Concept
Light in a white keynote and water effects create a nighttime experience of an otherworldly milieu.
The light installation projects onto the modern-day form of Himeji Castle, seen in the reflecting pool. Layering of real and magical scenes transforms the square into a dreamscape.
In the Dream Mirror, the image of a garden treasured through generations floats to the surface, one more scene woven of light reflected on the water’s face. The image reverberates with historical scenes of Himeji Castle.

Light and images projected onto the surface of the reflecting pool bring forth a shimmering, magical space.
The expression of the light changes with the dancing of the water’s surface, conjuring a special mood of quiet and beauty. A fantastical space you can’t help but stop and admire. -
White Heron Coated in Snow (Shirasagi no Yukigesho)
A ginkgo tree illuminated in strings of white.
Enjoy this whimsical space of light in the form of an White Heron spreading its wings. -
The White Heron’s Performance (Shirasagi no Kanade)
An event of storytelling and street piano, performed on a stage specially built for a grand piano. Everyone from kids to adults is welcome to take part (advance application is required). Enjoy a performance where everyone makes music in their own way.

Prayers of Eight Thousand Nights (Yachiyo no Inori)
This rotating illumination adopts the motif of the Purple Dragon Stone, an octagonal inkstone associated with Princess Sen (1597–1666). In this installation, walk along the path of light to the Snow Mirror at the center and plunge into a world of magic and wonder.

Snow Mirror (Tengekyo)
A mirror-ball objet that scatters light like snowflakes.
Full-color LEDs are arrayed in concentric circles around a mirror ball 1.4 m in diameter. The otherworldly lightscape they weave is an enchanting sight for visitors. -
Tower of Paper Lanterns of the
Moonlit Night (Tsukimi Chochin Yagura)The warm light from paper lanterns gently enfolds the square like the light of the moon.Paper lanterns hung in the tower are inscribed with written messages from residents. Their light fills the tower with a warm, welcoming mood.

Moonlit Path (Tsukiakari no Michi)
Soft light from paper-enclosed standing lanterns called andon gently guides visitors with a lightscape that brings the entire venue together.

Hundred Flowers (Hyakkaemaki)A picture scroll projected onto a stone wall interweaves light and history.
Projection mapping expresses the fascination of history, creating impressive photo spots for visitors to enjoy.
